CHH Quality Products is one of the few names in this comparison that existed long before Amazon. The company has been based in Arcadia, California since 1983, making chess sets, casino games and classic board games — card shufflers are one product line among many, not the whole business.

That matters more than it sounds. A shuffler from a games company tends to be built around how people actually play, and the CHH hand-cranked model shows it: no batteries, no motor, no electronics to fail. You turn a handle and the cards interleave. It handles up to two decks, standard or bridge-sized, and it costs about $20.

The trade-off is obvious and worth stating plainly. A crank is slower than a motor, and one hand stays busy while you use it. If you host a weekly game where the deal has to move fast, an electric model will serve you better. If you play with children, in a quiet room, at a table where a whirring motor would grate, or somewhere with no power outlet, the crank is the right answer — and it will outlast every battery-powered unit on this page.
